On Man United
United have been so improved under Ten Hag, why has he managed to get them going so much quicker than Ole, Jose, LVG etc?
I think previous managers have contributed to the reason why Ten Hag has turned Man United around so quickly.
The previous managers have highlighted the problems and Ten Hag has put his own formula down to bring players back down to basic.
To do it as quickly as he did is a credit to him and a credit to his directness. He hasn’t been stubborn but he’s been strong in the way he wants to implement his philosophy with the levels of energy in every game.
De Gea was brilliant against Leicester, do you think it’s stupid he hasn’t been offered a new contract?
I don’t think it’s stupid that United haven’t offered De Gea a new deal. Every player from their difficult period needed to go through a challenge, no-one was guaranteed anything.
The De Gea situation is difficult but it’s normal and Man United need to look at different options, but one month ago it was different but now he’s playing well it’s a different perspective.
Chelsea are rumoured to be looking at him, can you see that happening?
Goalkeepers want to be the number one and guarantees of that, I don’t see David going to Chelsea or any kind of place apart from back to Spain.
It will be a strange one him going to option as if Chelsea are trying to rebuild, why would De Gea be an option for them? He’s not a player for the future and they’re looking to build for the future.
Martinez was also immense against Leicester, do you think he’s been the signing of the season?
I think Martinez is definitely the signing of the season so far. He provides guarantees at the back, confidence both with and without the ball.
He’s not the tallest but he wins all of his challenges, 50/50s, and he provides so much confidence to his players.
He’s brought a new kind of atmosphere to the team, just like Casemiro has in midfield and Rashord has up front.
Dwight Yorke warned United against Declan Rice, saying he’s overrated, what are your thoughts on this?
Declan Rice is a top player but he’s not in the same league as Casemiro. It’s not about the energy levels or how strong you are, it’s about how smart and experienced you are and there’s no better player than Casemiro in this category.
It will take Rice time to adjust to this level, but he’s a good player and could become it but I don’t think United need him at the moment because we have sold this issue after such a long time.
The last player who dominated the midfield like this for United was Roy Keane. He’s the complete player in midfield, not just a holding midfielder.
He can score, pass, be a leader so there’s a lot of things that other players don’t have.
Mason Mount is emerging as a target for United, would he be a good option for Man United?
Mason Mount can fit in at any team, but I don’t think he’s had a great year at Chelsea and I’m not sure why he’d be linked more than he was before seeing as he was on fire last year.
I don’t think he should move to United as he hasn’t been playing well. I think these rumours are coming from agents and I’m not going to blame the media, but moving for Mount is not the right call at the moment.
Do you think United will beat Barcelona at Old Trafford to progress to the next round of the Europa League?
United dominated the game at Camp Nou and I can see them progressing against Barcelona at Old Trafford.
The quality, energy level, composure - they have no doubt about who they are going to play and they were unbelievable from the first minute against Barcelona.
At Old Trafford, they will be the same and at the end we will go through. 2-1.
United play Newcastle in the Carabao Cup on Sunday. You played for both clubs, so what are you predicting?
Nick Pope is a huge miss for Newcastle. He’s one of their key players. It’s going to be a tough
The Championship is long and there is cup games too and the calendar doesn’t always fit at the right time, that’s why it’s unfortunate for Newcastle of Pope’s sending off.
I do think United are scary at the moment, I haven’t seen their form coming and they are a joy to watch.
I don’t seen Newcastle able to cope with their form.
Can United win the league?
Statistically and mathematically it’s possible and no team is on better form at the moment.
We have one of the best players in the world at the moment in Rashford and so many players are playing out of their skin.
United are eight points behind if Arsenal win their game in hand but with sixteen games to go it’s very possible, especially as Arsenal aren’t as confident as before.
Man City aren’t as slick with Haaland, so let’s see as the games in March will be very important. Next year, United will definitely be one of the favourites.
Is Rashford the best player in the world?
There’s not many better than Rashford at the moment in world football, but Kylian Mbappe is still the best as he’s been incredible over the last three years and the boss at PSG, even with Neymar and Messi there.
In terms of how good he was in the World Cup too, but Mbappe and Rashford are the best two in the world at the moment.
Haaland is playing well, but he doesn’t provide as much. The excitement, speed, confidence of this guy at the moment, he’s unplayable and Kylian Mbappe is the same - it’s impossible to defend these skilful players.
It seems he’s been transferred the energy of Cristiano Ronaldo since his departure - I don’t know what’s happened to the kid.
Marcus Thuram has been linked with a move to Old Trafford, how much do you know about him and would he be a good option?
Marcus Thuram is a terrific lad and a terrific player. Lots of energy, confidence, doesn’t think twice.
He’s a dedicated player and the type of player that gives you guarantees with goals and assists.
It’s not just because he’s a French lad, I really like the mentality of the player and he had a little issue last year but bounced back brilliantly to get into the World Cup.
I don’t follow German football that much but I follow how he’s doing and I think these type of players provide more guarantees than others.
This guy is skilful and aware tactically, he’d be a great player for United.
On Tottenham
Son has previously spoken about his desire to win trophies, would he be a good option for United or City?
Son is fantastic and would fit in at any top club [including City or United]. He has been a bit unlucky this season but when he’s on song and consistent, Spurs are always dangerous and contenders for the league.
Harry Kane is the only one who’s consistent and that is not normal. Son has inspired a lot of players and it would be sad to see him leave Spurs without winning something - similar to Kane.
Kane and Son have a brilliant partnership this year and it seems Son has been unlucky with injuries and poor form, but there’s a good spirit between the players and they have been unlucky in midfield.
How do you assess Skipp’s form recently, can he be a mainstay in their midfield?
Oliver Skipp has been good but Spurs need a player like Casemio in their ranks
Skipp has been good but you see players like Casemiro come in at United and completely change their midfield, that’s what Spurs need.
They need aggression and hybrid players who can play ten games exceptionally, that’s the problem at Spurs.
With no disrespect to Skipp, as he’s a young player, but he’s still got lots to improve and he’s not going to take Spurs to the highest level alone.
On Everton
Has sacking Lampard proved to be the right call?
Everton made the right decision sacking Frank Lampard, you can see that by the results.
The defensive side was very important but that’s not solely down to the manager. Overall, the team and squad needed a change and the easy one was the manager, but it has the impact they wanted.
They beat Arsenal which was fantastic, but then the big one against Leeds was huge.
I think it was the right decision because this manager is brilliant in terms of his honesty and his communication was right on point.
Is it time for Everton to cut ties with Calvert-Lewin seeing as he’s so injury prone?
Every manager wants a player up front who gets you 15, 20 goals each season and they need to play every week.
Calvert-Lewin has been really unlucky and a top player. He’s got great qualities but maybe like Rashford, he’s not as focused on his game as he should be.
It’s dangerous if you put all your eggs in one basket. If Calvert-Lewin can get his approach back, as Rashford did, it can have the same impact on his game.
Would Moussa Dembele from Lyon make sense for Everton seeing as they need a big target man?
Dembele is a good player, but I doubt he’d have a big impact in the Premier League straight away.
He’s been to a lot of clubs in recent years and I don’t like when players move around many times, but his profile might fit what Everton need. He’s strong in the air, competitive on the ball and a good finisher, sometimes there’s question marks though, if I’m totally honest.
